The steel set back portion positions the flaps back 1 inch providing additional room for larger tires without the tire rubbing on the mud flap. Some tube steps and running boards only allow 1 inch of movement behind the wheel well, making this application ideal. Our black set back mud flaps are manufactured using 14 gauge steel for rigidity versus competitors 18 gauge steel that leaves the flap swaying because the steel is not thick enough. We finish coat our set back by spraying on a polyurea coating that encapsulates the steel. Powder coated set backs quickly lose paint on the tire side on gravel roads starting the rust process quickly. Ultimate Flaps are constructed using nearly indestructible semi ridged material. This material holds its shape but is flexible. Curbs, rocks, logs will flex the flap, but the mud flap will return to its original position. Ultimate Flaps stay rigid but conform to the wheel well of the vehicle without grapping between fasteners. The flap can be positioned to give nice straight line from flare vertically. Ultimate flaps use a grooved material to direct mud snow and rain down and away from your vehicle and whatever you tow. Ultimate Flaps wont sail back while going down the road like rubber flaps. Additionally, our mud flaps won't be torn off by backing up in deep snow. Mud with clay content that builds up won't make Ultimate Flaps rest against tire because of the weight of the built-up mud.
